参加私人或公共社交活动，不论是婚宴（Wedding party/reception）或是 公司的招待会（reception），常有举杯庆祝的机会，今日我们来讨论「干杯」 的相关说法： 若是要提议举杯庆祝，可用“propose a toast”一词；其中“propose”为 提议，是动词，而“toast”是指举杯庆贺的动作（当然也可指食物类的土司）， 是名词，例如： Ladies and gentlemen，I would like to propose a toast. 若要请大家举杯，也可用动词“raise”，如： Ladies and gentlemen，please raise your glasses. 若要表明举杯致意的对象或庆祝的原因，在“toast”后加上“to”（介系词），如： Dear fellow investors，I would like to propose a toast to our brilliant management team/our harvest year. （中译：亲爱的各位投资人，我想提议向我们卓越的管理团队 举杯致意/举杯庆祝我们丰收的一年） 若是要碰杯庆祝，说声「干杯！」，英文则用“cheers”。若要说敬某某人， 只要用“to”（介系词）加上对象即可，如“to Mr. Johnson/Vanessa/Michael Li”。 若举杯是要祝福对方，则可用助动词“May”置于祝词前，如： May you enjoy great health！ May your love last forever！ May you have a wonderful marriage！ May you have another prosperous year！ 而干杯往往要一饮而尽，在中西方皆然，若要表示一杯见底可用动词 “empty”，如： Let’s empty this shot and stay drunk tonight. 注：shot（n.）一杯酒
